In this module, you will learn about the role and responsibilities of a first aider, including the legal and ethical considerations of providing first aid. You will also learn about the importance of communication and how to effectively communicate with casualties and emergency services.
This module will teach you how to assess an incident and how to assess a casualty using the primary survey. You will learn how to identify life-threatening conditions and how to respond appropriately.
In this module, you will learn how to conduct a secondary survey to identify any additional injuries or conditions that the casualty may have.
You will learn about seizures and epilepsy, including the different types of seizures and how to respond to them. This module will also cover the treatment of seizures and epilepsy.
In this module, you will learn about diabetes, including the symptoms and treatment of hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia.
You will learn about the structure of the respiratory system, what’s in the air we breath and the functions of important structures.
This module will cover asthma, hyperventilation, and drowning. It’ll include the causes, symptoms, and treatment of each condition.
In this module, you will learn how to treat chest injuries, including rib fractures and punctured lungs.
This module will teach you how to treat burns and scalds, including electrical and chemical burns.
In this module, you will learn how to treat eye injuries, including foreign bodies in the eye and chemical splashes, insect stings and animal or human bites.
You will learn about the different types of poisons, including how they can enter the body and the appropriate treatment for poisoning.
You will learn about the circulatory system, including the function of the heart and blood vessels.
This will cover the theoretical side of dealing with a bleeding casualty, the different types of wounds you may come across, small splinters and nosebleeds.
You will learn how to identify a catastrophic bleed and how to treat them. Wound packing with haemostatic dressings, the use of combat application tourniquets and how to improvise a tourniquet.
This module will cover anaphylaxis, including the symptoms and treatment of anaphylactic shock.
This module will cover heart conditions, including the symptoms and treatment of heart attacks and angina.
In this module, you will learn about the causes, symptoms, and treatment of stroke.
You will learn about the different types of fractures, dislocations, sprains, and strains, including how to recognize them and how to provide appropriate first aid.
This will cover what is considered a normal temperature, hyperthermia and hypothermia.
This module will cover what causes meningitis, its common signs and symptoms and how it can develop into sepsis.
